143rd STREET EXTENSION

The 143rd Street Extension's purpose is to fill a missing gap in the area's regional roadway network.  It is a logical connection between Route 126 and Route 59.  As the Village and the surrounding area has grown in population and industry over the last few years, the need for this project has grown as well.  The increase in traffic has prompted the design work for the roadway to begin.  The ultimate construction of the roadway will be a combined effort of local, state and federal agencies.

The Village is currently wrapping up the Phase 1 engineering portion of the project and Phase 2 engineering is underway.  In addition, the Village is working with ComEd on the final details of the roadway corridor.  This work should be completed by November 2011.  The goal is to have this project to the stage where it could take advantage of alternative funding for construction, when available.
