Building Inspector

The Village of Plainfield welcomes applications for a full-time cross-trained Building Inspector. The minimum requirements are for an I.C.C. Licensed and Certified Commercial and Residential Building Inspector, strong preference for those candidates holding an Illinois State Plumbing License and Inspector Certificate. Additional certifications are encouraged. A successful candidate will have the ability to function in a team environment and effectively communicate, both orally and in writing, with the public, Village Staff, and representatives of other agencies.
The job requires the ability to work within the Village’s New World Software System and Microsoft Office software and have a valid driver’s license in good standing. Candidates shall supply a list of all I.C.C. Certifications with their application. Continuing education and involvement with professional organizations are expected. Salary Range: $23.47- $37.00 per hour, corresponding with experience, plus benefits, including participation in the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund. Must be able to pass a post-offer employment physical, drug test and background check.

Part-Time Receptionist/Cashier

The Village of Plainfield is seeking applications for a part-time office position in the Management Services Department, approx. 20-25 hrs. week with some flexible morning and afternoon hours. The individual will perform a variety of secretarial functions, with strong emphasis on greeting the public, answering incoming calls, collect/record cash receipts. Required: Associate’s Degree or one year certificate from a college or business school, or commensurate experience will be considered, basic keyboarding and math skills, proficiency with internet, spreadsheet and word processing software. Strongly preferred: accounting and database software proficiency.

Plan Commissioner

The Village is seeking a candidate for the Plan Commission. The Plan Commission makes recommendations to the Village Board on planning issues including annexations, rezonings, site plan reviews, special uses, and variances. A professional background in planning, architecture, engineering, residential or commercial entitlement, or land use law is helpful. Click here for a complete job description.
