To make a payment, please mail your checks (14400 S. Coil Plus Drive, Plainfield, IL 60544) or leave the payment in the secure drop box located in the Public Works parking lot.

New construction inspections will continue with specific directions from our inspectors to the trades onsite. Miscellaneous inspections for a roof, siding, and/or fences will also be processed.

Residents and customers are encouraged to e-mail any documents related to permits. Please use when sending permit applications and plans.

During this time, please allow 48 hours for your request to be processed. Our processing time for plan reviews has not changed. Please allow up to 21 business days for residential and commercial permits. Any documents we issue will be done so via e-mail.

• The Building Department accepts plan review and construction documents via e-mail. If providing digital drawings, all documentation should be submitted in PDF form. All documents must contain address and lot number. “Same as” drawings will no longer be accepted. The Village also accepts paper submittals.

• The State of Illinois requires the Building Department to review plans for energy conservation under the most recent International Energy Conservation Code including State of Illinois amendments. For more information, please visit the State of Illinois web site.

Swimming Pools - Any pools (permanent or temporary, above or below ground) that have the capacity to hold 24” of water or more, must have a permanent fence installed or a “rail topper” surrounding the pool 6’ from grade. Contractor Registration Information

Contractor Registration Requirements & Application Form - All contractors wishing to complete work in the Village of Plainfield must register prior to beginning any projects.  The registration fee is $50 annually. The completed registration form and fee should be returned to the Building Department, 14400 Coil Plus Drive, Plainfield, IL 60544.
